Purpose:

Athene is seeking a dedicated Software Analyst II professional to join our Risk IT team. You will be responsible for researching and resolving incidents reported by business users. This role involves identifying both immediate and long-term fixes for system issues, partnering with development teams to investigate problems, identify root causes, and determine necessary updates. The ideal candidate will analyze problems to develop cost-effective solutions, resolve routine IT system issues, and escalate project risks to support process improvement. Additionally, this position assists project managers, IT users, and developers in researching issues, leading to modifications of existing information and processes. The role also includes providing management information and trend analysis reporting, communicating effectively within the team and with management, and adhering to internal policies and procedures, including standards, controls, and metrics.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Researches and resolves incidents reported by business users using Service Now Incident Management.
  • Identifies both immediate and long-term fixes for system issues.
  • Understands, debugs, and develops solutions involving Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Database queries, and PostgreSQL.
  • Capable of debugging Microsoft SSRS reports.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding Web application logs, Server logs, and Transaction SQL.
  • Understands Database performance issues and suggests appropriate next steps.
  • Gathers metrics around Incidents and forms meaningful insights. Provides management information and trend analysis, leveraging Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Partners with development teams to investigate system issues, identify root causes, and determine necessary updates.
  • Analyzes problems and assists in developing cost-effective solutions to IT system issues.
  • Resolves routine IT system issues and escalates project risks to support process improvement.
  • Assists project managers, IT users, and developers in researching issues, leading to modifications of existing information and processes.
  • Communicates effectively within the team and with management.
  • Follows and adheres to internal policies and procedures (standards, controls, and metrics).


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of applicable IT experience.
  • Thoroughly researches and identifies the root cause of issues in a timely manner.
  • Effective communication skills with end users, developers, and senior management.
  • Experience with small-scale internal IT systems or related technologies.
  • Knowledge of medium to large-scale internal IT systems or related technologies.
  • Interprets user requirements and translates them into technical requirements.
  • Prioritizes tasks within the project and works with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Process and detail-oriented with the ability to grasp complex business workflows and processes.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.
  • Understanding of Microsoft .NET is a plus.
  • Proficient in SQL, including writing and optimizing SQL queries, and understanding of database performance issues.
