Williams Named Director of Development and Planned Giving at DMU

WEST DES MOINES, IA (09/29/2025) Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences has promoted Dave Williams, M.B.A., to the role of director of development and planned giving.

As the new director, Williams will lead DMU's planned giving efforts, helping alumni and friends of the university explore charitable options that align with their personal and financial goals. These options include bequests, charitable trusts and other tax-advantaged giving strategies.

"Planned giving is a fantastic way for our alumni to support DMU, offering financial benefits that allow donors to make a meaningful contribution that aligns with their estate plans," says Stephanie Greiner, B.A., M.F.C.S., vice president of university advancement. "Dave is the perfect person to help tell that story. We are thrilled to have him leading that initiative."

Williams, who previously served as associate director of development, came to DMU in 2022. He sees his new role as a natural progression rather than a complete change. He emphasizes the importance of estate planning, noting that even a small percentage of an estate can have a substantial impact on the university's future.

"When it comes to giving back to DMU, a lot of alums say, 'I want to support the university, but it just doesn't fit in our budget right now," Williams says. "Planned giving allows them to support DMU without impacting their monthly or annual budget, and they can usually support at a high level. There are a lot of tax incentives and efficiencies that come with that type of gift, too. It's just not something that a lot of people understand, so helping them understand that is really meaningful."

"There's a lot of potential for growth in this area," he adds. "I look forward to working with our talented team to find new ways to connect with alumni and help them secure DMU's future for generations to come."

Located in West Des Moines, part of Iowa's capital metro, Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences offers 10 graduate-level professional degree programs in anatomy, biomedical sciences, health care administration, occupational therapy, osteopathic medicine, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, podiatric medicine and public health. Founded in 1898, the institution offers superior academics in a collaborative environment. DMU students' scores on national examinations, pass rates on board certifications and match rates for medical residency programs are consistently higher than national averages and rates at peer institutions.
