WEST DES MOINES, IA (July 1, 2025) – The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce (WDM Chamber) announces the promotion of Everett Mullican and Meredith Murphy.
Everett Mullican, a West Des Moines native, joined the WDM Chamber as Marketing and Communications Coordinator in 2023 and was promoted to Marketing and Communications Manager in May of 2025.
“It’s an incredible honor to continue my journey with the community I’ve grown up in and have always loved,” said Mullican. “The Chamber has given me the platform to stay connected to the organizations and causes I care about, and I’m grateful every day to contribute to something bigger than myself right here in West Des Moines.”
Mullican leads the Chamber’s strategic marketing initiatives, media relations, branding, and content development across platforms. He is responsible for managing the Chamber’s website, newsletters, and social media channels, as well as supporting major events through promotional campaigns and storytelling. Mullican also plays a key role in member communications, community outreach, and strengthening the Chamber’s overall visibility and impact. Outside of his work at the Chamber, he serves as a chapter advisor for multiple international fraternities—including at Drake University and as Chapter Advisory Board Chairman at Iowa State University—is a board member of Young Professionals of Iowa and the Historic Valley Junction Foundation, a Community Representative for the Youth Justice Initiative, and a leadership team member of the Latino Trade Network. He is also active in the Knights of Columbus and continues to raise funds for the Live Like Lou Foundation, a program supporting ALS research and families affected by the disease.
Meredith Murphy, originally from Shawnee Mission, Kansas, joined the WDM Chamber as Talent Attraction Coordinator in 2022. She was promoted to Talent Attraction Manager in 2023 and now serves as Director of Future Workforce as of July 1, 2025.
“I am so excited to continue my work at the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce with this new title that aligns with the innovative work we are doing in work-based learning and talent retention,” said Murphy. “The future workforce of our region includes students, professionals retraining into new career paths, and anyone looking to call Iowa home.”
Murphy has led several key initiatives during her time with the Chamber. Her accomplishments include launching the High School Leadership Academy (HSLA), expanding the YURtern program to 470 registrants with new event programming, and strengthening partnerships with local school districts to support workforce development. She has also played a key role in Reignite CommUNITY, manages The Influencer and Leaders Digest newsletters, and focuses on workforce retention efforts across the state. Most recently, she earned her Society for Human Resource Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential and is an active member of both the Central Iowa SHRM chapter and the Association for Talent Development Central Iowa chapter. She also serves as Co-Founder and Operations Director of Iowa Pride Ensembles, further exemplifying her commitment to leadership and community impact.
