WEST DES MOINES, IA (09/30/2025) Des Moines University Clinic - Physical Therapy is pleased to welcome Brittney De Jong, M.A., LAT, ATC, as a certified athletic trainer.
"We are thrilled to welcome Brittney to the DMU Clinic," says Lauren Mach, P.T., D.P.T., ATC, head athletic trainer and physical therapist at the DMU Clinic. "Her specialized skills and passion for helping athletes recover and perform at their best are an incredible addition to our team. We're confident that her expertise will not only enhance the care we provide but also contribute to the positive, results-driven environment we've built here."
In June, the DMU Clinic announced its exclusive athletic training partnership with the Des Moines Buccaneers, a Tier I junior ice hockey team in the United State Hockey League (USHL). As part of that agreement, De Jong will also train exclusively with the Bucs throughout the 2025-2026 season. She says her goal is ultimately to help the Bucs win the league's Clark Cup.
"My job is making sure the guys are able to be on the ice and participate, that they stay healthy - whether that's through hydration, nutrition - that they're keeping weight on and helping them rehab through an injury," she says. "I'm here for whatever they need to be successful."
Originally from Freedom, Wisconsin, De Jong earned a Master of Arts in Athletic Training from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 2025, following a Bachelor of Arts in Biomedical Sciences from St. Norbert College in 2021. She has worked with collegiate men's and women's hockey, men's basketball, baseball, football and high school football and volleyball programs. Prior to joining the DMU Clinic, De Jong was an intern at Penn State University where she trained the NCAA DI men's and women's ice hockey programs and NCAA D1 baseball program.
