James Machamer brings over three decades of unmatched experience in construction, safety, and service to his role as President and Chief Experience Officer. A retired Veteran with nearly 23 years of distinguished Naval Service, James served with honor alongside the SeaBees, Marines, and Operational Medical Units. His multiple deployments and citations speak to a career marked by dedication, leadership, and a tireless commitment to excellence.
Concurrently with his military service, James continued his mission of service as a Senior Medic and Firefighter for nearly 13 years with the Des Moines Fire Department. His role demanded precision, care, and unshakable calm under pressure—qualities that now define his approach to client engagement and project planning.
James also served as the Safety Director for a General Contractor, further deepening his expertise in jobsite safety, risk management, and operational integrity. His passion for safety, thoughtful planning, and delivering exceptional client experiences makes him uniquely positioned to lead Walk Your Plans into a new era of innovation and client-first service.
With decades of experience in construction, James knows the building process inside and out—he understands the common frustrations that occur on both sides of the planning table.
