Raising Awareness About Human Trafficking in Iowa - July Luncheon
Human trafficking happens in Iowa. Our state has the right component to be a conduit for this modern form of slavery: Two major interstates intersecting our state's center making travel in and out quick and efficient. In 2017, there were 218 calls made from Iowa to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, and there were 74 human trafficking cases reported that year. Those numbers have steadily increased since 2012. At this luncheon, you'll learn from Kellie Markey with Dorothy's House and Lauren Gildersleeve with Garden Gate Ranch about the warning signs and how you can help prevent human trafficking.
