Exclusive Meet Your Legislators Roundtable

Join the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce at our new government affairs committee called CIVIC CONNECT. This is a nonpartisan group of leaders and connectors who help to provide access, information, and proactive engagement that enhances the economic environment of West Des Moines businesses, and community. This group will:
 

• Educate by providing situational awareness and information to members about relevant issues.

 

• Engage members with the process and introduce them to the decision makers in the process.

 

• Encourage policies that are good for members of the Chamber and the City of West Des Moines.

 
Our first event features Iowa State Representative David Young on March 22^nd from 2:00-3:00pm at the WDM Chamber of Commerce Offices at 650 S. Prairie View Drive, Suite #110 West Des Moines. SEATING IS LIMITED. 
 
David Young is a seventh generation Iowan born and raised in Van Meter where he lives today.  He graduated from Johnston High School and Drake University.  After graduating from college, David worked in the financial services industry in Des Moines before moving to Washington, DC to work on Capitol Hill.  David worked in the U.S. Senate where he was Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley from 2006-2013.  In 2014, David ran for the U.S. House of Representatives and served as a Member of Congress representing Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District from 2015-2019.  David is in his first term representing District 28 in the Iowa House of Representatives.  David is Assistant Majority Leader and serves on the State Government, Appropriations, and Administrative Rules Review Committees, and is Vice Chairman of the Commerce Committee.  Outside of his work in the Iowa General Assembly, David is an Adjunct Professor at Drake University.
