Join the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce at our new government affairs committee called CIVIC CONNECT. This is a nonpartisan group of leaders and connectors who help to provide access, information, and proactive engagement that enhances the economic environment of West Des Moines businesses, and community. This group will:
- Educate by providing situational awareness and information to members about relevant issues.
- Engage members with the process and introduce them to the decision makers in the process.
- Encourage policies that are good for members of the Chamber and the City of West Des Moines.

About Iowa State Representative Konfrst:
Rep. Jennifer Konfrst is serving her third term representing the people of Iowa House District 32, which includes Windsor Heights, Clive, and West Des Moines. She is currently the Iowa House Minority Leader.
In addition to serving in the Iowa House, Konfrst is currently an Associate Professor in Drake University's School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Before teaching at Drake, Jennifer spent 12 years in communications leadership at Iowa Public Television (Iowa PBS). While there, she was responsible for strategy and implementation of communications for the network. She has also worked in various other communications positions in corporate, agency, and nonprofit organizations throughout her career.
Jennifer has enjoyed volunteering in public schools and various nonprofits in the community. She has served as President of the Plymouth Nursery School Board, President of the Downtown School PTA, Mock Trial coach at Merrill Middle School, and was a member of the PTA and a debate team parent volunteer at Roosevelt High School.
In 2018, Konfrst received the Madeline Levitt Mentor of the Year Award at Drake University. She has received the Outstanding Elected Official Award from Emerge Iowa and Outstanding New Member from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Central Iowa Chapter. She is a member of the Des Moines Business Record's 40 Under 40 Class of 2010 and was named the national PBS Communicator of the Year in 2007.
Jennifer has lived in Iowa most of her life. After living in northern Iowa and then out of state for a short time as a child, she returned to Iowa and graduated from Johnston High School in 1992. She earned both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Drake University.
Konfrst lives in Windsor Heights with her husband of 26 years, Lee Konfrst, and they have two grown children. Ellie is a first year law student at Georgetown and James is a senior at the University of Iowa. Lee is an attorney and works at Nationwide Insurance in Des Moines. They are members of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ in Des Moines.
